We work to Amplify the impact school leaders already have

Leading a school can be mentally and emotionally draining. Administrators and teachers face growing demands as they work to serve student populations who have increasingly challenging and frequently changing needs. As the demands and expectations rise, the resources available to educators are staying the same, or, in many cases, dwindling.

School leaders need additional support. Every member of a school community benefits when administrators partner with experienced and knowledgeable educators who can help them clarify their vision, establish clear priorities, and develop a strategic plan that improves student achievement outcomes.

Sarah Beck holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. She also holds a Masters in Secondary Education and a Certificate in Educational Leadership from the Graduate School of Education and Human Development. While at Stanford, Sarah was awarded the East Palo Social Venture Award and the Haas Fellowship for Public Service.

Sarah’s passion for equity and education ultimately led her to pursue a career in schools where she and has now been practicing as a teacher and school leader for over a decade.

Prior to her career in education, Sarah worked as a management consultant and finance analyst in San Francisco. As part of a dynamic team solving challenging problems, she learned valuable skills including Excel modeling and data analysis, both of which are helpful in her current work.

During her career transition, Sarah’s greatest strength was making her love of learning accessible to a diverse student population. While leading a large, high-need middle school, her ability to communicate an innovative vision while also supporting its implementation was critical to success, including improving school culture for all stakeholders.

During this time, Sarah’s role evolved from classroom teacher to teacher leader to administrator.

She was proud to be selected as Glasgow’s 2015 Teacher of the Year and was named the 2017 Fairfax County Public School Outstanding Leader.

Sarah currently serves as the Head of Lower School and Director of Curriculum and Instruction at a preschool through eighth grade independent school in the Washington D.C. area. Working in a smaller school serving more grade levels has given her the opportunity to deepen her partnerships with families, evaluate and develop curricula, and understand how different schools approach similar challenges.

Sarah engages in continuing education on a regular basis and has received training from Adaptive Schools, Cognitive Coaching, Fierce Conversations, and Solution Tree. She has also taken courses through IDEO, Stanford History Education Group and Brene Brown’s Daring Schools.

Sarah’s consulting partnerships allow her to combine her background in strategic advising with her passion for education, while staying fully embedded in the daily work of school leadership.

Sarah chooses her partnerships and projects based on where she can have the biggest impact, as well as find great joy in the work she and her partners are able to accomplish together.
